Travel is a beautiful thing — you experience different cultures, meet the most unique people, and see, hear, eat and try out things you just won’t get anywhere else in the world. While backpacking through Europe holds a charm and excitement in and of itself, sometimes a hostel (or a Holiday Inn) just won’t do. Here are our Top 4 Dream Stays, places we would love to spend a night or two at during our travels:

- Poseidon Underwater Resort, Fiji: This amazing hotel has been in the works for nearly 15 years, and you can bet that if someone handed us a free trip come opening day, we would be there in a heartbeat! What makes Poseidon so special? It’s being built 40 feet beneath the sea. A true underwater oasis, this exclusive hotel features panoramic views of the breathtaking coral reefs and marine life unique to Fiji. Imagine going to sleep as tropical fish swim by your window and the waves of the ocean lap gently just above you. Aside from the novelty of the concept, the hotel offers a bar, restaurant, gym, pool and even a wedding chapel. More than 150,000 are in line to make reservations already.

- Hotel de Glace, Canada: If Queen Elsa from Frozen decided to build a hotel, we imagine the Hotel de Glace is what it would look like. Set in Quebec, Canada, this hotel ensconces guests in a winter wonderland made entirely of snow and ice. Although most opt to stay at the warmer, more practical Four Points by Sheraton Quebec next door, the more adventurous travelers can stay overnight in this ice palace. Each overnight guest is provided with a beautifully designed suite, complete with fireplace and ice sculptures, and given nighttime access to the Nordic area’s hot tubs and saunas under the stars.
- Hotel Kakslauttanen, Finland:Your room: a glass igloo. Your view: The Northern Lights. Need we say more? Perhaps not practical as far as privacy goes (you do have access to a toilet, but showers and saunas are in a separate facility), the views and experience alone make the trip worth it. Other overnight options at this arctic resort include log cabins, snow igloos, suites and even Santa’s Home (which is exactly what it sounds like.)

- Treehotel, Sweden: Remember when you were a kid and sleeping in your tree house seemed like the coolest idea ever? The creators of Treehotel thought so too and took that concept up a notch or five. Located in the small village of Harads, the Treehotel features actual treerooms, compact, modern rooms with unique lighting and furniture inside each one. Built directly into the trees, these hotel rooms give you a true birds-eye view of the forest.
